So, while my net was shut off, I decided I'd like to tool around with some sculpy. I wanted to start making some steampunk inspired work with gears and things.

This is a rough prototype. I wasn't altogether too concerned with finishing everything this first time around and making sure it was straight and tidy. We'll call it conceptual.

A story:

I needed gears. Wee little clock gears. We have a clock repair shop here and I thought I might as well see if there were a few old gears they could let me have. I ended up with two tubs full of old watches. The guy who works there, Tim, was so nice and awesome. He said I could just have them so long as he could see what I was up to.

I cast the gears using a mold compound. I'd love to use the actual gears in a piece and plan to in the future, but since that is a limited resource, I'll have to figure out just what I want to do with them first.

Lastly, if you like the look of this and are interested in purchasing one, please read my journal and leave a comment. It will help me out a lot. Thankyou!

I love how this turned out. It looks older. Great first attempt. Feel free to look in my gallery for more steampunk. By the way, I love the avatar.

The only mold I ever had to make was a piece mold for my anatomical heart pendant, but after seeing this I definitely need to make a few new shapes. :D Cool work here, I hope I can be on par with you someday.

Ooh, that's pretty! It looks like a lot of blood sweat and tears went into it. Not to meantion time and patience. Killer work, and it really strikes me, right on!
