I've got less than two weeks left to FWA and I've got to come up with some more artwork for the show. Time to get crackin'!

This was just a bizarre free-form drawing to get the old juices flowing. I love deep sea animals, like the angler fish. This, however, is less angler fish and more coelacanth/goldfish/fantasy fish with a bio luminescent doodad. :D

I could have dug up some reference, but I wasn't interested in accurate portrayal of a certain fish species as much as building a bizarre and fantastical tone.

More angler fish on the way, I think.

Love the use of crosshatching (I think that's one of my favorite shading techniques to see...I'm terrible at doing it myself...^^; ). Great detail on the angler's face. And I like how it does have that fantastic look about it with the teeth and the flow of the lines around him, and he still keeps that angler look (those things have some creepy faces...:XD: ).

When I first saw the thumbnail of this in my 'new deviations' thing I thought it was a really, really pissed off rooster.

With fangs.

That being said, I'm glad it's actually an angler fish, which is much more natural.
