Artist's Comments

I've discovered that everything I dislike about oil paint is negated by painting on bristol. Oil is now my new best friend.

I painted all day. This is the first result. Painted alla prima (finished all at one time) in maybe... an hour and a half. Something like that. it's 9" by 6"

I maaay get back into it and flesh out some areas later on. I'm not certain yet.

Nice job! Bristol you say? I've only tried canvas in recent years, did a bit of poster board back in school. Did you use anything to thin it down?

Extinction is more than the end of something with a long run in the past. Extinction is murdering everything that would have evolved from that species in the future.

I used to hate oil until I started really watering it down with turpenoid and liquid. Makes it like watercolor

Oooh This is a very nice piece. I like how the sea monster fits in with the swirling waves. I would leave it the way it is or that effect might be lost. ^^6 Nice work as always!

I try to like people...but it's so hard to swerve around the stupid ones.

Yeah, bristol. It soaks up some of the excess oil so it dries faster. It also dulls down the shine. I did! I used a special mix: equal parts of turp, damar varnish, and linseed oil.
