Behold! The work of an entire Monday! Nightcrawler curled up in a ratty old cloth in front of a groovy stained glass window. I actually got the idea from a guy's art at the anime convention I attended this weekend. All-in-all, I like this a lot. I spent a good deal of time on it and am happy with the results save a few things--
1. It really is totally unrealistic. I mean, the scaffolding is too perfect: there aren't any extra ropes or anything, but I think I can forgive all that because it created a very linear picture, which I wanted (I think)
2. The stained glass window would not make an ounce of sense if Nightcrawler were not in front of it. The angel figure's torso would disolve into a mess of black spikey things in a sea of blood red; not exactly the usual look for a cathedral
3. The lighting on the figure seems a little off, but that doesn't bother me too much either.
I think I did a pretty good job of doing the stained glass. It looks like a stained glass window, doesn't it? And the wood planking turned out very very nice. Ropes are the devil. I don't think I shall have them in any of my pictures again any time soon. I can only imagine that chains could be worse *shudders*
Wow, I really like this picture. It's somewhat serene and yet there's this other feel to it. The stain glass is done beautifully; couldn't get that effect myself if I were forced to. I really like the lighting, especially on Nightcrawler's robes. All in all, it's a great picture. +fav.

Here's hoping you don't make DTF. I'd hate to see you get bashed for drawing something original

I think it's fantastic! What software did you use? Or did you do it freehand? You really got GREAT effects. If you are interested you can take a look at my gallery. [link]

software? I just drew my sketch out, scanned in grayscale, converted to RGB, lay down blocks of local color and then scribbled away with the airbrush on lots of layers until it looked good. the most sophiticated thing I did was use a motion blur for the light rays because I'm a straight-line-drawing arse. So, no special filters or anything, just alot of airbrush.
Though the Nightcrawler trend lately has been getting old, there are always a few people like you that remind me why I've been obsessed with him since the 80s. ^_^
I've always enjoyed the paradox of Nightcrawler, which you have presented so nicely here. I love the composition, and I don't care one bit that you think the stained glass window wouldn't work on its own. It works perfectly for this piece. I also think the lighting is just fine. Excellent work. +fav
