Behold! The work of an entire Monday! Nightcrawler curled up in a ratty old cloth in front of a groovy stained glass window. I actually got the idea from a guy's art at the anime convention I attended this weekend. All-in-all, I like this a lot. I spent a good deal of time on it and am happy with the results save a few things--
1. It really is totally unrealistic. I mean, the scaffolding is too perfect: there aren't any extra ropes or anything, but I think I can forgive all that because it created a very linear picture, which I wanted (I think)
2. The stained glass window would not make an ounce of sense if Nightcrawler were not in front of it. The angel figure's torso would disolve into a mess of black spikey things in a sea of blood red; not exactly the usual look for a cathedral
3. The lighting on the figure seems a little off, but that doesn't bother me too much either.
I think I did a pretty good job of doing the stained glass. It looks like a stained glass window, doesn't it? And the wood planking turned out very very nice. Ropes are the devil. I don't think I shall have them in any of my pictures again any time soon. I can only imagine that chains could be worse *shudders*
I love this. I mean you are being hard on yourself. This is amazing those three flaws are only perceived by you because you created the artwork. In my opinion, it looks gorgeous. I think that the stain glass window could work because the part above nightcrawler looks very angelic while the part below him looks demonic and devilish. He is slapped in the middle curled in the fetal position and looks very lost in between the karmic stereotypes. So don't get mad at yourself fo little details changed for compositions sake because the main focus of a piece of art is composition. In closing, I love this very much, and I think that you did an amazing job capturing Nightcrawler's personality.
I love this character
