Cave paintings depicting prehistoric dragons.


The true nature of the paper is sadly very reduced by the scan. The original has a very textured surface as well as salt crystals growing on and in the fibers of the paper, giving it an extremely stone-like quality.

It will probably be in the Anthrocon art show. If you're there, please stop by and take a look :3


Also, if you think this is too detailed or too accurate for cave paintings, you really ought to take a closer look at the real thing. Prehistoric man's renderings of animals were studied and beautiful. I like the cave lions of Grotte Chauvet especially.

This is gorgeous. I'm really sad that the scanner depleted the paper texture. I wish I could go to the show and see it in real life. Why can't scientists find real painting like this?

Scanners do indeed have a tendency to kill a great painting. :doh: I would love to see it in person someday! :love:

Very beautiful! Maybe it's time for a better camera to get some more detail, shadows aren't washed out as much in photographs versus scanners.
