Aw I love your sea dragons. I say do a whole series. What are you using to get those fine cross hatching details? A really tiny brush?

Whoops, late answer is late! Yes, a wee little brush.

Must've taken a lot of patience.

For me, not at all. My coloring tool of choice is the pencil, so building up with little strokes makes all the sense to me. The roadblock with pencils is the inability to blend colors on the palette and I find doing it with layers of differently colored pencil results in stress-induced hair removal. Likewise, mashing together large brushstrokes as in traditional painting doesn't make any sense to me. Pencil-like strokes with paint was the natural solution.

It's just one of those things where what seems tedious to one artist is the zen activity of another.

This is my favorite dragon picture that I've ever seen. There's something in the expression that I can relate to and love. I also adore the colors that you chose!

It's so incredible how much rich color you can bring into your artwork with traditional methods... :3
