Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me. :la:
Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang. :D
The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

It's birthday time

As Deviantart has probably alerted you, it is my birthday very soon (Aug 28). Usually I don't mention it or think about it much. Occasionally someone will draw a little something like DominoII did this year [link]!

Anyway, I usually don't ask for anything but this year is going to be especially shitty. I just moved many states away from my hometown and will be spending my first birthday away from all of my family. Worst still, the one person I know here just so happens to have a birthday on the same day so it isn't even really MY birthday. It stinks.

So to make myself feel better about it all I'm going to make a birthday request for some doodles from dumb fandoms that make me lol. So like:

Ghaleon.  Because he's keen-o.  Fff or Nash because who doesn't love Nash?

Or some Snape. Snape is always good.

Maybe Ouran Host Club. Some Kyoya would be nice. I don't really know what you DeviantART kids are into these days. :D  (I don't really think about Ouran Host Club much but last night I had a dream that Kyoya lived in a hole in the side of dirt cliff and combed his hair every morning with a couple of daikon radishes that grew in the soil at the entrance and it was so amusing that I started watching it again. )

Or whatever silly fanart you usually do anyway but just stick me in there hiding behind a bush or something. I'm not picky!

(someone mentioned Yugioh, which would be totally cool. I realize a lot of you draw only animals and not people? that's fine, too; they could be animals or animal people. Honestly, someone could draw a stick figure pooping the words 'happy birthday hibbary' and I'd be thrilled :P )
